Tree of Life
In medieval times, trees were often represented as an image for Christ, reminiscent of the very ancient symbol of the Tree of Life.
I have always loved trees, something strong and protective emanates from some of them. At home in Northern France, a place Christianized 1500 years ago, there are still a few trees where people come to pray, asking St Claude to heel their ailments.
I have made several mosaics of these tree of life.
This Tree of Life is made of marbles, agate, and granites; exceptionally I used a beautiful synthetic stone for the orange fruits hanging from its branches.
