The Eyes of Eva Green.
I used black granite, travertines, ceramics and glasses, Metallic frame.
Eva’s Eyes was built following the reverse method. In this way, I can use materials of different thickness.
The mosaic is built upside down, and I do not always see the exact colours. as the back of a tile is not always the same colour as its front.
Once the piece is complete, I glue on top of it a support board mounted on a wooden frame.
Finally, after 48 hours left for the thinset cement glue to set, I flip the whole piece and remove the model stuck into it.
This is the first time I see the actual result of my work … Always a magical moment !
Several more hours will bee needed for cleaning up and finishing the piece.
48 hours separate these 2 images. In the top one all tesserae (Small tiles) are glued on the model.
The bottom one is the other side of the same piece – its mirror image – and the actual mosaic.
