June Mosaics won’t stop the Music (Ibero-Picard proverb)
The warm weather is back, so in this lovely month of June, I was able to start building my mosaics outdoors again, while continuing to set up my studio.
June mosaics in progress are:
- Champagne for all!
Becquerel’s Dragon.
Yellow Circe
Red Circe

This mosaic is a commission, a birthday present. it is made of black and white ceramic, and gold mirror. The 2 little Buddhas sitting on the tesserae, I cast them myself in Bronze. (I was born in a Foundry, in case you didn’t know…)

The dragon is built in a modular way. I created small, independent parts and then assembled them on a larger surface. Here, I used the direct method.

both Circe are built reverse method.
As for the workshop… The frame is finished, I’m working on the mezzanine where I’ll store my American stuff, and I hope to pour a slab before this fall.

Note : Circe for dummies
Lady Circe, a charming but morally dubious hostess, welcomed Odysseus with as much warmth as an ICE agent would a Nicaraguan avocado smuggler. Clearly not keen on veganism, the lady transformed the hero’s companions into pigs, which, according to some facetious philologists, improved their conversation. Odysseus, armed with an antidote given him by Hermes—who must have held shares in Pfizer—resisted the potion and seduced the witch, proving that already in ancient Greece, people slept around to save their friends. They stayed with her for a year, which, in mythological terms, is equivalent to three days off work and a sabbatical. Then Circe, in a fit of tenderness or weariness, kindly showed them the way to the Underworld: just to show, even the most intimate friendships can end in hell.
